MOREŠKA – SWORD DANCE
This trip is usually organised with the start in Orebić or at your hotel in the afternoon hours. Upon coming to Korčula, you are left with your pocket guide (which you can buy in souvenir shops in Orebić or Korčula) to sightsee and explore the historic places of this ancient town. The performance begins around 21:00.
This sword dance will take you back to the 15th century to the period of long wars and struggles between the Christians and the non-Christians in the Mediterranean. Today, Moreška is the only dance of such sort in the Mediterranean performed in its most attractive form. Thirty dancers fight fiercely in a dance dangerous even for experts to win the princess – Bula.
