MEĐUGORJE
In recent years, Međugorje has become one of the most famous and most visited centres of pilgrimage in the whole Catholic world. On June 24, 1981, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, appeared in the village of Bijakovići in the Međugorje parish, to six young parishioners (two boys and four girls). There have been apparitions every day since that date, and to this date over 25 million pilgrims have visited Međugorje.
Today Međugorje is one of the best known and one of the most often mentioned places in the world. Međugorje is a unique phenomenon in the modern world that drew milions of pilgrims and religious tourists from the whole world into that rocky Herzegovinian village.
The trip usually organised on Sundays, beacuse the visitors want to attend the Holy Mass which is held all throughtout the day in all world languages. The start is from Orebić or from your hotel at 08:00 h. The trip takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, in which a short break for coffee is planned in. The departure from Međugorje is scheduled at around 15:30 h, and the arriavl to the hotel at around 18:00 h. In Međugorje, the visitors are 4 hours of free time to visit all the important places in this sanctuary, and the bus is also at their disposal.
